As a shop, we consciously implement health and safety practices year round in preparation against any form of transmitted infections. Our baseline procedure is to practice precaution everyday with the mindset that we don’t have to get ready if we are ready. These practices protect our clients and team against concerns such as COVID-19.
At Black Widow, we practice controlled traffic throughout the shop. Our workstations are spaced out and only clients are permitted passed the front desk to mitigate the density around our artists and clients to ensure a safe and sanitary work environment.
Along with our daily detailed cleaning, policy applied to guests, floor plan, and routine equipment check. We’ve implemented additional regulations to maintain the health and safety in our shop.
Precautions we’ve taken:
Some tattoo shops are set up with many clients and artists packed into one workroom to maximize income. Our shop has a low density plan where workstations are divided into 3 separate rooms on 2 floors. What we lose in profit, we gain in protection from cross-contamination and infection control during times of heightened airborne risk such as flu season. We advise all tattoo collectors to reconsider being tattooed in common rooms with over 5 occupants.
Our baseline procedure is normally at high alert, as if every tattoo were an infection risk. This isn’t alarmist on our part, it allows us to be constantly ready and vigilant.
We’ve discontinued walk-ins to reduce traffic and contact.
Single use barriers are being used on all common items such as pens and clipboards.
Our sanitation schedule has been tripled.
All common seating areas, door handles, front desk and bathroom surfaces are being disinfected in between appointments.
Hand sanitizer with single use barrier films are available for client use at each workstation.
In addition, we encourage all clients who are ill or experiencing flu like symptoms to postpone their appointments. The health and safety of our clients and artists is our absolute priority and we’ll gladly accommodate last minute changes to maintain the health and safety in our shop. Deposits will be honoured and kept on file for 2 months of your original appointment, no questions asked. Your health is more important than money.
