Known for his artistry and draftsmanship, Ben Corday was a seminal figure in 20th century American tattooing.
Corday travelled a great deal in his life, and has been said to have tattooed internationally and coast to coast in the US. In Los Angeles, Corday worked under legendary tattooer Bert Grimm and produced an extensive catalogue of iconic tattoo flash.
Corday’s fine line approach to tattooing echoes in his European peers Sutherland Macdonald and George Burchett. These artists, in my eyes, established the foundation for Western fine line tattooing used throughout the 1900’s.
